Llandaff North Methodist Chapel is a small active community church set in the heart of local housing. lt was opened in 1877 and had extensive alterations in 1999 making the whole building adaptable for Worship and Community Activities. Worship is warm and welcoming and Sunday Services are held at 10.00a.m. and 6.00p.m.(alternative months with Whitchurch)
Coplestone Road are as follows:
JUNIOR CHURCH
Although small in number Sunday Mornings are full of activity and Teaching of the Bible stories.Much of their "work" is displayed in the Hall and Church.
PRAYER FELLOWSHIP
A small group meet on a Monday Morning for prayer and fellowship. Everyone who attends gains from this group and so to does the Church-knowing people are praying for you and others.
BEREAVEMENT GROUP
This is a helpful group which arose from the George Thomas Hospice.The people who attend find it very beneficial and a good friendship between those attending and leading has been established; a good caring nature of our Church outreach. The group meet on a Monday afternoon.
BIBLE STUDY(House Group)
Two house groups meet on a Tuesday evening - to study the Bible in an informal atmosphere where those attending share views on the passage being studied. One is a shared study with friends of Christchurch U.R.C. and the other (sprung from and Alpha course) and is a mix of churches..
RAINBOWS,BROWNIES,GUIDES(Uniformed organisations)
All these meet every week on a Wednesday Evening .All the groups are very active and they are invited to share in All Age Worship on occasions e.g Harvest.We are pleased to have these young people involved at Copleston Road.
CHILDREN’S GROUPS
GIRLS GROUP -This is a Church run group for girls from the ages of 7-11.They do a variety of activities on a Monday Evening and seem to have an enjoyable time.
YOUTH GROUP- This group meets on a Friday Evening and is for those up to Senior School age.lt varies in numbers attending between 4-12. A range of various activities is provided.
LUNCHEON CLUB AND FRIENDSHIP CLUB
Meals are prepared/served by the Church Members on a Friday(every 3 weeks).A 3 course meal is always served and over 30 people attend.This again is a valued service to the Community. Friendship club follows on from the Luncheon Club where a range of speakers are invited to talk on many issues. Over 40 people attend.
CHOIR PRACTICE
The small Choir meet to practice on a Wednesday Evening and take part in our Worship on special occasions and when Local Arrangement appears on the plan.
CYTUN(Churches together in Llandaff North and Gabalfa)
We work together with other Denominations holding United Services and Social Events.
On a monthly basis we operate as a "team" to serve the Homeless of the City(Rainbow of Hope).
PARENTS AND TODDLERS GROUPS.
Two groups meet at Copleston Hall every week (Tuesday/Friday).There is plenty going on in both groups and we hope that this is being seen as "serving the community"
DANCING SCHOOL
The hall is hired out to Clair's School of Dancing and this again helps us achieve our aim for our building to be used in the Community.
DAY CENTRE AT GABALFA
Liz Rowe attends the centre where a time of fellowship is enjoyed by those who wish to "join in" An extended Communion is shared also.
HAWTHORN JUNIOR SCHOOL
John Rowe visits the school to lead assemblies and has a good understanding with the Staff and pupils.
We promote Fairtrade by a regular stall and use their products in the Church.
Many other activities are arranged e.g Ploughmans Lunches, Ba r-B-Que,Socia I Activities and over the past few months we have joined on two occasions with Whitchurch Methodist Church and Christchurch URC for united morning worship. Easter Morning we hold a Sunrise Service at Taff Weir followed by breakfast.
The recent Royal Wedding saw the whole of our premises being used by the community for the street party celebrations.
We take part every year with a stall at the Roath Park Fun Day .
